CoinLedger only needs "Read" or "View" access to import your trade history. This permission protects your accounts. Learn more about API access in this article here.

Step-by-Step Import Instructions

Step 1

In the upper right corner of the screen, select your profile name.

Step 2

Next, select Settings.

Step 3

Click API Keys.

Step 4

Then, navigate to the API Keys tab on the next page.

Step 5

Fill in a name for your new API Key under Display Name. We suggest naming it CoinLedger for easy identification afterwards.

Step 6

Make sure you select Read Only under Access.

Step 7

Then, select Generate API Key + Secret.

Step 8

Copy your new API Key and API Secret to a safe place, and then head to CoinLedger.

Step 9

Navigate to the Import step of the CoinLedger app. Select Add Account then choose the Cointree tab on CoinLedger. Click on Auto-Import then enter your API Key and Secret into the correct field. Then, click Sync Transactions.

When importing your transaction history via API, you will have the option to specify a start date for your import. This feature is designed to prevent duplicate data from being imported. You can access this feature by hitting the Import Settings drop down menu, as shown below, and then specifying a date for your import to start from. All transactions after this date will be imported. You should not do this if you are importing all of your transactions into CoinLedger for the first time.
