At CoinLedger, we have assisted thousands of cryptocurrency investors with reporting their crypto taxes since 2018. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional software and a seamless user experience. Ensuring the accuracy of your tax reports is our top priority.

However, we understand that there are some cases where issuing a refund is the right thing to do. For these cases we have a dedicated support team on hand to assist with troubleshooting these requests. Before sending us a message to request a refund, please review these guidelines to ensure that your request is handled efficiently.

CoinLedger Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee if you are not able to get an accurate tax report using CoinLedger software. You are eligible for a refund provided that all three of the following conditions are met:

  • Your refund request is within 14 days of purchase

  • You have not downloaded any tax reports

  • You are prevented from generating an accurate tax report because of a verifiable bug or product limitation (verified by a our technical support team)

We do not provide refunds for the following reasons:

Difficulty importing into tax filing software

CoinLedger directly integrates with these major tax filing software providers:

  • TurboTax (Online & Desktop)

  • TaxAct

  • Tax Slayer

  • H&R Block

In addition to providing step-by-step guides for each tax filing software, our customer support team is available to assist with getting your file correctly imported.

If you are having trouble importing your tax file please send us a message and we will personally verify that the tax file you exported from CoinLedger is compatible and up to date. Unless our support team detects a corruption in your file export after testing out the file, we are not able to issue a refund.

Hiring an accountant

CoinLedger is not tax filing software, so it’s entirely expected that you will need to find an additional filing solution after you generate your crypto tax reports.

After using CoinLedger software you will need to take the additional step to file your tax reports - either through e-filing tax software or by using the filing services of a tax professional. Filing with a tax professional does not replace the work that CoinLedger software does to accurately calculate your profits and losses for tax purposes. Instead, CoinLedger helps you to automatically prepare tax forms that would be difficult to complete by hand.

Our system has been reviewed by a panel of crypto tax attorneys and accountants with extensive experience in crypto tax law and accounting. If you have any questions about the formatting of your tax report or about which tax reports you need to send to your tax professional, please send a message in to our support team and we will be happy to guide you.

Purchasing the wrong tax year

If you purchased the incorrect tax year we can help with crediting your account so that you can get the report for the correct tax year. However, we cannot issue a refund once the mistaken tax report has already been downloaded, or if your request comes more than 14 days after the date of your purchase. Please do not download the reports for the incorrect tax year as this may disqualify your refund request.

Missing transaction history data

CoinLedger is designed to give you an accurate crypto tax report. Our system highlights Missing Cost Basis warnings (explained here) in order to show you that you have missing or inconsistent transaction history data. In most cases, these Missing Basis warnings are due to data that is missing from our platform and has not been imported. Our app is designed to flag them to you to make sure that you file accurately with your local tax authority. For this reason, we are not able to provide a refund for Missing Cost Basis warnings in most cases, as they are not a limitation of the CoinLedger software.

Change of mind

At CoinLedger, we believe we provide all of our users with an outstanding and exceptional user experience. For this reason, we do not provide refunds for change of mind after purchase. Only accounts with verified product limitations or shortcomings are eligible for a refund.
