H&R Block Premium, the company's desktop download app, allows for TXF file imports and supports cryptocurrency sales. This version of H&R Block is required in order to import any cryptocurrency transactions. Learn more about this here.

Once you've ensured that you're using the correct version of H&R Block, head over to the CoinLedger app and begin the process of importing your crypto trades and transactions!

Step 1

First, download your H&R Block TXF Report from CoinLedger's Tax Reports page.

Step 2

Next, head to the H&R Block desktop app, and click Start a Return.

Step 3

Then, in the top left corner of your screen select File → Import Financial Information.

Next, select Browse, and choose your H&R Block TXF File to be imported.

Once you've selected the file, press Import Selected File, and proceed to the next steps.

Step 4

On the next screen, you have the option to select which transactions to import into H&R Block. In most cases, you'll want to import all of your transactions.

Then, select Import. On the next screen, you'll see a summary of every transaction you've imported.

Step 5

Next, select Federal and navigate to Income to review and finalize your imported crypto trades.

Click next through the prompts until you get to the Investment Income page. Then, make sure Sale of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other securities is selected, and click Next.

Step 6

This screen shows which files were imported. Please note that the total sales proceeds listed here is not your total gain/loss, which can be reviewed on subsequent screens. Next to your total sales proceeds number, click Edit → Next to review the transactions.

Here you’re able to review every transaction that was imported into HR Block. Once you're satisfied with the final results, select Finished.

Now, all of your crypto trades and transactions have been imported into H&R Block, which means you can resume filing the rest of your taxes. Please reach out to our Support Team at anytime if you have further questions about this process!
