Venmo is a popular payment platform that now allow users to buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency. As of 2023, they now allow users to transfer cryptocurrency on or off their platform. Read on below for instructions on importing your transaction history files from Venmo into CoinLedger!

Step 1

Head to either the Venmo app or desktop website and log into your account.

Step 2

On the desktop site, navigate to the Settings drop-down on the left side of the screen and then select Tax Documents.

On the mobile app, click your profile picture in the bottom right corner of your screen. Then, click the Settings Icon, and select Tax Documents on the next page.

Step 3

Venmo will automatically provide you with a Transactions Statement CSV for your crypto transactions if you bought, sold and traded enough crypto to meet the IRS reporting threshold. If no documents are showing under the Tax Documents tab on your account, this likely means that you did not meet the threshold and do not have to import your Venmo transactions.

Learn more about the reporting thresholds here.

Step 4

Make sure you have the correct year selected under Tax year. Then, press Download CSV. You may need to download one CSV for each year you bought, sold or traded crypto on Venmo.

Currently, only the Transactions Statement (CSV) is supported by CoinLedger, and you do NOT need to import your Gains and Losses Statement from Venmo (as CoinLedger will make these calculations for you).

Step 5

You will receive files in .csv format. Navigate to the Import Stage of the CoinLedger app. Select Add Account then choose the Venmo tab on CoinLedger. Click on Upload File and drag each of your CSV files into the box to import your transactions.
