File Import Walkthrough

Step 1:
Login to your Bitfinex account.

Step 2:
Navigate to the reports page.

Step 3:
On the left sidebar, select My History, then General. Be sure to select Trades and not Ledgers. Select a date that includes all your transactions.

Step 4:

Click Export.

Step 5:

Next, make sure you select Trades, MM-DD-YY format and enable DISPLAY MILLISECONDS.

Then, click Export and follow the instructions to download your .csv.

Step 6:
You will receive a file in .csv format. Navigate to Step 1. Import. Select Add Account then choose the Bitfinex tab on CoinLedger. Click on Upload File and drag your CSV file into the box to import your transactions.

When importing a transaction history CSV, you will have the option to specify a start date for your import under the Drag and Drop Files Here box. This feature is designed to prevent duplicate data from being imported. You can access this feature by hitting the Import Settings drop down menu, as shown below, and then specifying a date for your import to start from. All transactions after this date will be imported. You should not do this if you are importing all of your transactions into CoinLedger for the first time.

Bitfinex File Limitations

Due to limitations with the Bitfinex file export, if you have margin transactions they will appear as spot trades. This is because Bitfinex does not distinguish between margin trades or spot trades on their official Trade History file. Please review these transactions prior to submitting your tax reports and consult with a tax professional if necessary.
