The Reallocation Breakdown Report allows you to see how your tax lots were reallocated during the transition to per-wallet cost basis tracking and troubleshoot any issues that occurred during this process.

After completing your migration to per wallet, we recommend you review this report to ensure that your tax lots were reallocated properly.

You can access the Reallocation Report by clicking on the drop-down menu on the Reports page button, and selecting Reallocation Breakdown as shown below.

To get started, select an asset from the drop-down menu shown below to view how its tax lots were reallocated by our system.

This page will highlight any issues that occurred while reallocating your cost basis. These warnings are a good indication that you are missing data on your account or that one of your balances (cost basis balance or calculated balance) are incorrect. Learn what these balances mean here.

These warnings include:

Underallocated Amounts: For example, I am seeing a warning on my Reallocation Breakdown that each of my wallets below received less Bitcoin than expected based on my calculated balance.

If you are seeing this warning on your account, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:

  • Check to see that your cost basis balance for this asset is correct. If it is, then your calculated balance must be too high for one or more of your wallets. Check to ensure that all withdrawals and deposits on your account are imported and classified properly.

  • Check to see that your calculated balance for this asset is correct. If yes, then your cost basis balance might be too low. Check to ensure that no buys or deposits are missing and that all transactions are properly classified.

Unallocated Amounts: Below, you will see that all of my ETH was not successfully allocated to the following wallets. This is usually a signal that I am missing data on my account, need to review my inflows and outflows for incorrectly classified transactions, or that my calculated balances are incorrect.

Historical Price Warnings: Historical Price Warnings will appear as a red warning symbol on the Reallocation Breakdown Report. They occur when our system does not have historical pricing data for an asset, and will cause errors during your cost basis reallocation. You can resolve Historical Price Warnings through these steps.

Uncategorized Transactions: Uncategorized Transactions will appear as a question mark on the Reallocation Breakdown Report. If your wallet transacted with a smart contract or decentralized app that we don’t have a native integration with yet, the transaction will be classified as Uncategorized in CoinLedger. Uncategorized transactions may also appear when you import a transaction type that CoinLedger doesn't automatically recognize. These transactions will cause errors during your cost basis reallocation. You can resolve Uncategorized Transactions through these steps.
